The comments are made during a nine-hour Zoom meeting on a proposed new “temporary” policy for assigning students to the system’s examination schools. Unaware that a microphone is on, chairman Michael Loconto mocks the names of Asian parents waiting to testify. He resigns the next day. During the meeting, Lorna Rivera texts, “Wait till the white racists start yelling at us,” to Oliver-Dávila, who replies, I hate WR.” Rivera then replies, “Sick of Westie Whites.” Rivera and Oliver-Dávila resign when their comments are made public on June 7, 2021.
